Abstract

This paper provides a short review of the history of HAT in Uganda, in order to contextualize the subsequent exploration of the factors that impede or facilitate the refinement and enforcement of veterinary policies in the country. The discussion of available options and recommendations to prevent further emergence and re-emergence of HAT in Uganda can be applied to zoonotic diseases more generally across the continent.
