The ex situ conservation of microorganisms: aiming at a certified quality management
Abstract
This chapter is concerned with the issue of conserving microorganisms as biological resources for the benefit of human life and activities. It presents an overview of global efforts in the identification, conservation, data generation and quality management of microorganisms and points out to the need for increased financial support to this challenging task.
