Abstract

This is one of ten case studies that were part of an IIED research programme on \"Urban Poverty Reduction Programmes: Lessons of Experience\". The research was undertaken with support from the DFID and from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

This article is a reflection on nearly a decade of practical work by an alliance of two South African organizations, People's Dialogue on Land and Shelter and the South African Homeless People's Federation.
