Abstract

This document represents the final report of NRSP project R6755, \"Sustainable local water resource management in Bangladesh - meeting needs and resolving conflicts\", which aimed to explore and develop an in-depth understanding of how the rural population of Central Bangladesh manage water resources as part of the process of attempting to secure a livelihood. The report describes how the research identified priority problems, potential solutions, and arenas of conflict over water resources, and how the project developed and promoted appropriate and cost-effective techniques for water distribution, drainage and re-use.
