Abstract

This report examines the following issues:

  1. How does fuelwood fare as a subsistence energy provider for the rural poor?

  2. Has fuelwood been replaced by other forms of energy such as charcoal, agricultural biomass, LPG, and electricity?

  3. What are the sources of fuelwood: Is pressure on forests reducing due to a build-up of alternative sources of fuelwood?
