Abstract

This document summarizes the problem of human African trypanosmiasis and describes the work of DNDi and its partners in developing new treatments: the search for new lead compounds, the development of the nitroimidazole fexinizadole as a new trypanocidal drug, and the introduction of nifurtimox-eflornithine combination therapy, the first new treatment developed for sleeping sickness in 25 years.
