Abstract

This report reviews the development and evolution of farming systems in peri-urban Kolkata, including aspects of local governance, population growth and urbanisation. The report then discusses the results of the farm manager survey, which aimed to address gaps in the existing knowledge base concerning management practices and arrangements. Managers of farms producing fish, vegetables or rice, the 3 main production systems, were surveyed.
