Abstract

This manual is designed to aid hatcheries to produce large numbers of good quality silver barb seed using current resources. It is an output of a workshop held in Pakbor hatchery in which practical techniques were tried out, and knowledge pooled to develop a guide to best practice under local conditions. The manual covers all the major steps in hatchery production - broodstock conditioning and selection, spawning and hatching, early and post-nursing and a hatchery monitoring system.
