Showcase 16: Database provides link between rural groups and policy makers.

Abstract

This series of two-page briefs highlights some of the new technologies and processes available, in order to inspire practitioners and policy-makers to put them to use. This one describes how a district-based information system in Ghana is opening up the policy process to debate, dialogue and consensus building. The new system is a simple, participatory geographic information system (GIS) for data on natural resources and livelihood activities that builds on the knowledge of the community.
