Sabala: Keeping adolescent girls in school

Abstract

Many factors push girls to drop out of school: can a multi-layered programme overcome these barriers? A four-page illustrated brochure explains how the Sabala programme hopes to achieve its goals.

As part of Knowledge into Action, Karnataka Health Promotion Trust (KHPT) and STRIVE designed the brochure for non-specialist audiences such as teachers, parents, NGOs and local and national government departments. Bangalore-based artist Suresh Kumar created the illustrations, creating a strong visual sense of the context and emotions involved. The programme is based on a range of background research and evidence.
