Abstract

This project is intended to provide a new road safety module as a key component of the HDM-4 model. This report represents the main output of the inception phase of the project by providing:

  • a brief background to HDM-4 and its current method of incorporating road safety

  • a literature review of all relevant published material on road accident modelling

  • an outline of the proposal for the next phase of this work
