Review of the Pinus caribaea Mor. and Pinus oocarpa Schiede international provenance trials, 1978
Abstract
All the known published and unpublished literature relating to the Pinus caribaea Morelet and Pinus oocarpa Schiede international provenance trials is reviewed. Data summaries are given for 126 assessments of 88 P. caribaea trials in 22 countries and 101 assessments of 63 P. oocarpa trials in 18 countries.
Variations in growth traits were detected among the provenances of both species during the nursery phase, but differences that were relevant to the choice of seed source and plantation management only became apparent one year after planting in the field for P. oocarpa and three to four years after planting out for P. caribaea.
