Abstract

The review is intended to provide a clear picture of the marine fisheries resource of mainland Tanzania through compiling existing bio-physical, fisheries and socioeconomic data regarding the biophysical characteristics of the fisheries; the quantity, status, trends and threats to the fisheries resources; the categories and numbers of stakeholders dependent on the fisheries for their livelihoods, their assets, and access to capital; and the institutional arrangement, laws and policies governing the use of the fisheries resources.
