The purpose of this review is to generate a robust understanding of the
strengths, weaknesses and appropriateness of evaluation approaches and
methods in the field of development and humanitarian interventions on
violence against women and girls (VAWG). It was commissioned by the
Evaluation Department of the UK Department for International Development
(DFID), with the goal of engaging policy makers, programme staff,
evaluators, evaluation commissioners and other evaluation users in
reflecting on ways to improve evaluations of VAWG programming. Better
evaluations are expected to contribute to more successful programme
design and implementation.
