Rational use of antibiotics by community health workers (CHWs) and caregivers in Zambia

Brief shows that CHWs in Zambia are capable of correctly assessing and treating pneumonia symptoms in children

Abstract

This policy brief shows that community health workers (CHWs) in Zambia are capable of correctly assessing and treating pneumonia symptoms in children. However, to further strengthen the rational use of antibiotics, the authors recommend improved respiratory rate assessment tools for CHWs.

This research is funded under the Department for International Development’s COMDIS-HSD Programme which is led by the University of Leeds
