Rapid fragility and migration assessment for Eritrea (Rapid Literature Review)

Migration in relation to Eritrea is reviewed

Abstract

Migration in relation to Eritrea is reviewed. As of June 2015, 383,869 refugees and 60,157 asylum seekers originated from Eritrea. The top European countries receiving the largest number of Eritrean asylum applications in 2014 were Germany (13,255), Sweden (11,530), Switzerland (6,920), the Netherlands (3,910), the UK (3,300), Norway (2,880) and Denmark (2,275). Many Eritrean refugees are present in Sudan. Outdated figures on remittances to Eritrea estimate that they constitute around one third of the country’s gross domestic product
