Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis analysis of Pseudomonas solanacearum

Abstract

Genetic diversity within the bacterial plant pathogen Pseudomonas solanacearum was determined by genomic digestion with rare-cutting endonuclease enzymes. The resultant DNA fragments were separated by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). The method was shown to be appropriate for analysis of races 1,2 and 3 and it is amenable to ecological studies on closely related bacteria.
