Procurement and Pricing of New Vaccines for Developing Countries

Abstract

This brief explains how vaccines are procured and explores how their prices are set for the public sector in developing countries. The note focuses on the procedures followed by UNICEF and PAHO, which together procure a large share of the vaccines purchased by or on behalf of developing country governments, as well as GAVI, a significant source of vaccine financing for developing countries
