Abstract

This report brings together information from a series of country profiles that compile information on demography, HIV epidemiology and health systems (including drug manuracture, procurement and regulation) in 6 countries hosting or planning to host trials of vaginal microbicides for HIV prevention, namely India, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. The second part of the report consists of an appendix giving this information in tabular form; a shorter appendix tabulates data on sexual behaviour.
