Practical experiences with field water quality testing kits and equipment. Final Report, October 2008.

Abstract

This response to a DEWPoint helpdesk enquiry provides: (1) Tips and advice from practitioners in the use of the Wagtech and Delagua kits, and notes on alternatives to the Wagtech and Delagua kits; (2) A list of research and articles of field based studies of basic physical, chemical and microbiological testing; (3) Regional availability and true costs for equipment and consumables; (4) Experience on transferability of testing technology to local organisations. The information was based on a literature review and web search, a questionnaire sent to international agencies and individual professionals with experience in water supply programmes, and informal telephone discussions with key informants.

This report was produced by DEW Point, a Resource Centre for Environment, Water and Sanitation, that was funded by DFID and managed by a consortium of companies led by Harewelle International Limited. The Resource Centre closed in 2012.
