PISCES Policy Brief No. 3. Policies and Regulations Affecting Biomass-Related Energy Sector Development in Sri Lanka

Abstract

The future predictions of energy demand, limitations of hydro expansion and inadequate fossil fuel supplies in Sri Lanka suggests the need for a diversity of power sources in the future. The main objective of this policy brief is to discuss the current status of the biomass energy sector of Sri Lanka and to lay a foundation for a process of further studies and consultations leading towards a well-integrated energy policy.
