PCR-based detection and characterization of Pseudomonas solanacearum for use in less developed countries

Abstract

Pseudomonas solanacearum-specific DNA sequences were identified by 16S rRNA sequencing and genomic subtraction experiments. Oligonucleotide primers for these regions were constructed allowing single cell detection by PCR amplification. These specific PCR tests are being adapted for use in less sophisticated laboratories in Asia and Africa.
