Abstract

This report includes: An introduction to the PACE project, and the local government structure and energy sector in Uganda; Renewable energy and energy efficiency developments, including outlines of the solar PV market, micro hydro, small hydro projects, efficient cooking stoves, government promotion of renewable energy, and non-profit initiatives; and Private sector involvement in electricity provision. Appendices give information on Public Private Partnership model types, the Energy for Rural Transformation programme, and Government policy issues related to electrification.
