Abstract
This Research in Context brief summarises and sets in context emerging findings from DEGRP project ‘Navigating global banking standards‘. With a focus on low- and middle-income countries, the project examined why countries adopt global banking rules which are designed to enhance global banking stability, but which may not be appropriate to the context of the poorest countries. The project was led by Professors Emily Jones and Ngaire Woods (Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford), and Professor Thorsten Beck (Cass Business School, University of London) and included at least 10 researchers from a variety of countries.
