Abstract

This joint Shiree/DSK publication looks at the effects of evictions that occurred in Korail slum in Dhaka on 4th April 2012. This report has been informed by first-hand observations and extensive interviews in the days following the evictions with 20 affected slum residents and DSK field and management staff. It paints a picture of the impact the eviction has had on the people who live in Korail. It also presents detailed analyses of the economic and social impact of the eviction and makes clear that slum evictions should not happen without rehabilitation.
