Modelling the sustainability of frontier farming at the forest fringe: a study which includes the linking role of livestock in the development of more sustainable farming systems. Final Technical Report. September 1999. Overseas Development Group (ODG), University of East Anglia, UK.

Abstract

This document represents the final report of NRSP project R6675, 'Modelling the sustainability of frontier farming at the forest fringe', which aimed to analyse and model resource interactions within smallholder production systems and to identify key indicators that determine the long-term viability of farming enterprises. The report describes how the project identified four indicators of sustainability at the farm level. These include forest cover, income, agrodiversity and pasture quality.
