Mineralogy and petrography of diatomite from the Lampang Basin, Changwat Lampang, northern Thailand. (WC/99/019).

Abstract

The report describes the mineralogy and petrography of 14 samples of diatomite collected from the Lampang Basin, Changwat Lampang, northern Thailand, by geologists from the Thai Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) and the British Geological Survey (BGS) during August 1996. The overall purpose of the investigation reported here was to adequately characterise diatomite materials subsequently used in the project's column leaching experiments and field trials. Please note that while the findings of this report are not of generic significance they do help explain how diatomite will behave when added to contaminated land.
