Abstract

This document describes the work of the International Partnership for Microbicides in developing vaginal microbicides for the prevention of HIV transmission, the importance and benefits of microbicide development, the building of clinical research capacity in Africa, and the other benefits of the research such as empowerment of women, awareness raising, encouragement of HIV testing and reduction in stigma.
