Male circumcision for HIV prevention: from evidence to action?

Abstract

This review describes evidence on the global prevalence and distribution of male circumcision; summarizes the evidence of an impact on HIV incidence – three randomized controlled trials in Africa indicate a risk reduction of about 60%; and highlights the major public health opportunities and challenges raised by these findings.
