This report presents the findings of the Mid-Term Review of Makutano
Junction, the popular television drama set in a fictitious Kenyan
village and shown on prime time in Kenya and Uganda. It comments on the
following aspects of the project: the television series, programme
content, success in creating awareness and changing behaviour,
dissemination of audience research, capacity building, gender,
broadcasting the series outside Kenya, interactive component/short
message services (SMSs), marketing, sustainability and links with DFID,
and makes a number of recommendations.
The appendices present the methodology of the review, progress according
to milestones, Kenyan and Ugandan focus groups, and career progression
of the crew used in the different series
