Abstract

A presentation given by Benjamin Davis (FAO) describing the potential of social cash transfers and social support to aid in meeting rural development goals in 7 countries throughout Africa. The presentation particularly focuses on issues of dependency and how the extra security afforded by cash transfers can have widespread social and economic benefits to poor, rural communities.
