Abstract

Investments in global agricultural land often gain attention in \"North-South\" contexts, but this paper explores investments from the Arab Gulf in agricultural properties in Australia. The paper addresses the following questions: How do farmland investments take place in a developed context, such as Australia? What distinguishes foreign direct investments in land from other foreign direct investment? And what characterises forms of resistance in a democracy?
