Jobs, Growth and Development: Making of the “Other” Bangladesh

Bangladesh is now hailed as a major success story among developing countries

Abstract

Once ranked amongst the lowest per capita income countries in the world during the 1970s, Bangladesh is now hailed as a major success story among developing countries. Multiple indicators of human and economic development, such as health, GDP and export productivity, have seen significant rises in recent decades. This report seaks to analyse and highlight the role that the generation of \"good jobs\" has had in this story, as well as the future for decent work and employment opportunities in Bangladesh.
