Abstract

This Policy Brief summarises the historical evolution of the economic and socio-political context of Uganda, with an emphasis on Buganda, where Kampala is located. The evolution of land tenure and management systems in Uganda and the growth and development of the city of Kampala are described. The main section of the report presents the findings of this research, with respect to the current channels through which land is delivered for urban residential use. Finally, the main policy implications of the research are identified.
