Impacts and implications of gender mainstreaming in rural transport in Tanzania - Final Report

This report presents findings of a field study led by HelpAge International

Abstract

This report presents findings of a field study led by HelpAge International which assessed whether gender mainstreaming in rural transport programmes in Tanzania has had a transformative effect on women facing multiple forms of discrimination. The research sought views of communities, local authorities, national policy makers and development partners. An assessment of transformative change among women living in rural communities suggests a largely negative conclusion.

This project is funded by DFID under the Applied Research on Rural Roads and Transport Services through Community Access Programmes in Africa and Asia (AFCAP2 and AsCAP)
