Helpdesk Report: Access to Medicines in Under-served Markets
Abstract
An overview paper of seven new studies commissioned by the Access to Medicines team at the Department for International Development which focused on issues of current concern and debate in developing countries. The paper also explores issues related to international trade, intellectual property and drug registration requirements. It explores how these policy trends impact access to medicines in developing countries. As well as how strong intellectual property protections might negatively impact developing countries that are 'emerging producers of generic medicines', like India or China.
