Global gender goals and the construction of equality: conceptual dilemmas and policy practice

Abstract

This chapter first examines the process by which gender goals became established and then attempts to disentangle the meanings, and the theoretical underpinning of their various formulations. The final section assesses the feasibility of their attainment and the actual/potential roles of the international community in this process.
