Gerenciamento participativo para garantia da sustentabilidade hidrica em aluvioes sob uso agricola do semi-arido Brasileiro.

Abstract

In a semi arid scenario the relevance of the investigation of queries related to the sustainable use and conservation of groundwater should be considered. For that, methodologies which combine the practical and theoretical principles of water resources management, to the daily practice of the local population to assure water sustainability, are needed. This paper presents some implemented actions and their impacts on trial areas in the semi arid region of Pernambuco State, where agriculture is practised, aiming at rational use of water resources through a participatory management based on integrated management and monitoring activities. The members of the communities are involved in all actions and phases, through the organization of workshops, monitoring, installation of irrigation systems, and even in evaluation of the results. Management proposals have been developed based on the characterization of the areas, monitoring data and the use of mathematical modeling, but are also supported by local knowledge.
