Gender, health and development III: engendering health research.

Abstract

This is the 3rd paper in a set of 3 that focuses on key topical areas in gender, health and development. It reviews progress to date in bringing a gender perspective to 4 areas, namely: the focus of health research; the process and methods used in conducting health research; the funding of health research; and human resources for health research. It concludes that some progress has been made but there are areas that need further critical action. Strategies to maximiseopportunities for gender and health research to shape policy and practice are outlined.
