Abstract

This opinion paper aims to provide a personal view on the impacts and conditions for success of private standards in crop production, from the viewpoint of people who undertake training in support of GlobalGAP in Kenya. It is suggested that in future Africa might have its own corporate social responsible standard to primarily benefit Africa rather than retailers in Europe.
