Foreign Direct Investment in Egypt.

Abstract

This chapter presents the institutional and policy environment for FDI into Egypt, before analysing the findings from the Egyptian survey. The first section outlines the evolving policy environment with respect to FDI into Egypt. It goes on to consider methodological issues, in particular the representativeness of the sample with respect to size, sectoral and regional distribution of foreign affiliates. This permits the introduction of characteristics of the foreign direct investment sector in Egypt. In the fourth section, the findings are presented of the Egyptian survey. It concludes by evaluating FDI into Egypt during the 1990s.
