FINAL TECHNICAL REPORT. R6453: Transgenic Crop Resistance in Upland and Lowland Rice to Nematodes.

Abstract

Nematodes have been identified as a major pest problem in DFID reports on many crops including upland and lowland rice. The objective of this work was to develop a general defence against a wide range of nematodes that infect rice. Once this has been achieved, the defence would be suitable for the wide range of transformable crops in subsistence agriculture that suffer problems with Meloidogyne spp (root knot nematode) or other nematodes.
