This project provided co-financing for a Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) contract aimed at developing, field testing, and promoting improved techniques for extracting coconut oil at the small rural and domestic scale, for which traditional methods are arduous, time consuming and inefficient. Five coconut processes were researched investigated: aqueous processing; hot oil immersion drying; waste heat recovery technology; ram press, and the intermediate moisture method.
