Abstract

This document represents the final report of NRSP project R6759, \"Integration of aquaculture into the farming systems of the eastern plateau of India\", which aimed to develop and promote strategies for the introduction of improved fish species, new varieties and stock. The report describes how the project team, together with local farmers, identified the key research requirements within the rain-fed area of the plateau region of eastern India and how trials with small groups of farmers demonstrated a strong interest in aquaculture, particularly in the use of under-utilised community seasonal ponds.
