Abstract

The purpose of this project is to promote policies that support, guide and evaluate 'pro-poor' rural and local economic development across a range of less developed countries and transition economies in which DFID is active.

This report describes the background to, aims and components of the project. The main activities during the period 2004-2006, including workshops in Bangladesh and South Africa, and their outcomes are discussed, and dissemination activities are outlined.
