Abstract

This report focuses mainly on the inception phase activities in Chennai, India between December 2003 and June 2004. The structure of the report is: Introduction; Initial activites and findings - Chennai, India; Initial activities and findings - Cochabamba, Bolivia; Project planning; Monitoring, evaluation and uptake strategy; References; and Annexes. The largest section of the report is Annex 4, a Keynote backround paper from the Chennai inception workshop.

The NEGOWAT project was planned to develop approaches to facilitate more inclusive and effective negotiations to water-related conflicts in peri-urban areas.
