Explaining Areal Variations in Reproductive Health in East and West Africa.

Abstract

A proposed research project (funded by the Economic and Social Research Council) to link contextual data sources to data from demographic and health surveys to explain variations in reproductive health is outlined. Eight countries (Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda) will be involved in the study and 2 reproductive outcomes will be investigated: use of a modern contraceptive method, and use of a health facility for childbirth. The expected outcomes are stated.
