Evolution of DNDi’s Portfolio

Abstract

This presentation by DNDi’s Research and Development Director briefly summarizes the criteria by which diseases are chosen for DNDi research, and then describes filariasis and paediatric HIV, as new diseases for which DNDi plans to support the search for new treatments. Despite the high profile of HIV, there are no significant research and development players in the field of paediatric HIV treatments, and there are no safe and effective drugs for killing adult filarial worms; but in the case of both diseases there are promising possible treatments and suitable partner organizations and funders.
