Enhancing livelihoods and NR management in peri-urban villages near Hubli-Dharwad. Final Technical Report for project R8084.

Abstract

This project sought to implement plans of action to better manage NR developed by poor stakeholders in six peri-urban villages around Hubli-Dharwad. Poor stakeholders were the primary beneficiaries, and were mobilized into self help groups (SHG), which gave them group identity and a means of procuring low cost loans via informal saving and loans schemes. The original action plans conceived during the previous project (R7959) were developed and modified by primary beneficiaries following exposure visits to other projects, and as they adapted technologies and techniques offered by project partners, UAS and BAIF. Outputs and research activities are described.
