East Kolkata wetlands and livelihoods: Workshop proceedings.

Abstract

This workshop was the first step to engaging with a participatory planning process within the project. Outcomes from the workshop activities represented an important source of knowledge that then guided future project activities. Key objectives were to elicit the constraints and benefits associated with peri-urban production systems in east Kolkata, reach consensus amongst participants on selecting poor groups for further study and identify the range of stakeholders associated with the system. The secondary objective of the workshop was to inform a wide range of stakeholder groups as to the nature of the project and to assess the most appropriate means to disseminate project outputs.
